Grief Counseling
Grief Counseling
Grief counseling offers compassionate, individualized support for those navigating the pain of loss. Whether you’re mourning the death of a loved one, experiencing the end of a meaningful relationship, coping with a miscarriage, or adjusting to a life-altering event, you do not have to grieve alone.
Loss comes in many forms, and while grief is a natural response, the journey through it can feel isolating, confusing, and overwhelming. You may be questioning the future, experiencing guilt, anger, sadness, or even numbness. Sometimes grief shows up in unexpected ways – through difficulty sleeping, changes in appetite, or struggles with motivation and focus – and at unexpected times. Counseling can help you make sense of these reactions and support you in creating space for understanding and processing.
Why Grief Counseling?
Grief is not something to “get over”—it is something to move through, and each person’s grief is uniquely their own. Cultural background, personal history, type of loss, and available support all shape the grieving experience. Often, people feel pressure to “move on” before they are ready, or they may not know how to express their emotions in a way that feels safe or supported.
Grief counseling provides a nonjudgmental, confidential space where you can:
- Process your emotions at your own pace
- Understand the many stages and forms of grief
- Cope with the physical and emotional symptoms of loss
- Process existential questions
- Honor your connection with what you’ve lost while gradually reengaging with life
- Receive guidance for rebuilding your identity and meaning after loss
Whether you are in early grief or have been silently carrying it for years, support is available.
Grief Counseling Services
Grief counseling helps you make sense of your loss. Together, we work to build emotional resilience and create a space where your grief can be acknowledged and held while you relearn to navigate life.
Some of the areas we may explore in our work together include:
- Processing complex emotions like guilt, regret, anger, and relief
- Navigating anniversaries, holidays, and significant milestones
- Managing the effects of grief on relationships and daily functioning
- Learning how to live with the loss while still finding purpose and hope
- Understanding and coping with intense waves of emotion or numbness
- Addressing spiritual or existential questions that may arise
This process is not about forgetting, it’s about learning how to remember with love.
My approach is warm, integrative, and trauma informed. I meet you where you are. We may incorporate mindfulness, narrative work, somatic awareness, or rituals to honor your loss as we move through the grief.
Grief After Different Types of Loss
You may benefit from grief counseling if you are grieving:
- A loved one’s death (recent or years past)
- A miscarriage, stillbirth, or infertility journey
- The loss of a beloved pet
- A significant breakup or divorce
- A major life transition (empty nest, job loss, relocation, retirement)
- Loss of health or identity due to illness or trauma
No matter the source, your loss is valid, and your healing matters.
